Piper

A few weeks ago I was working looking around on craigslist and I came across an ad for a free horse. Anyone who knows even a little bit about horses knows there is no such thing as a free horse. Buying them is the cheap part! But my friend Jen had been keeping an eye out for a young horse to start ever since she took a class with her trainer on young horse starting. So I sent her the link and whadda ya know, she went out and got her!

I have a little experience with babies after buying my gelding, Joey as a 4 month old. But I'm not an expert by any means (which is why at 6 Joey is still barely under saddle). Jen wanted me to come take a look anyways so Ava and I made the trip up the mountains to see the new baby.

This is Piper. They aren't super sure of her age but the vet is guessing she is between 6 months to a year. She is just a little thing, a pony mix of some sort and should stay a perfect height for a kid or small adult. She is very sweet and very willing. A perfect first horse to start.

While Jen and I played with Piper, Ava busied herself with stripping off her shoes and socks, despite it being COLD out.
