Catch up

I've been a bad blogger again. I'd like to say its because I have been busy working, but that's not true. The hospital is ridiculously slow lately. No one is having babies, at least not at my hospital. (At least I did my part in helping out census!) I could blame it on the incredible weather we had the last few weeks (it's been record highs in the 70's) but that's not true either. It's mostly due to pure laziness. Usually when I slack on blogging I back date my posts so it looks like I keep up on Ava's blog, but again- I'm feeling lazy so here's a little catch up on what Ava's been up to these past few weeks in one (hopefully not too long) post.

I'm very lucky to be able to still talk to one of my best friends growing up. Amanda and I meet in 6th grade and have been very fortunate to stay in touch all this time. We don't get to see each other as much as I'd like since she is a NICU nurse in Vegas and we are here but we always try to get together when she is in town. A few weeks ago we got to watch Amanda get married in a very touching and unique ceremony.

Ava'a fussy time is between 5-8pm and the wedding was at 6pm. I was really worried she would be super crabby and cry during the ceremony. She started to fuss a little so we bribed her with a bottle to snack on.

Our table was right by the dance floor and Ava was mesmerized with the lights! But true to her form come 8 o'clock she is out. So the only picture I got of her with the bride was while she was sleeping.

She also got in some cuddle time with my other high school BFF Allison.

Ava also got the green light for starting solids at her 4 month appointment. I was going to wait until closer to 6 months but lately Ava has been super hungry. I'm barely able to keep up with her demand and some days I'm not able to at all and have to supplement her with frozen breast milk. I'm doing everything I can to increase my supply (taking every supplement known to increase lactation, stopped worrying about the baby weight, pumping round the clock, drowning myself in water, eating tons of oatmeal....) I really want to get her to a year of just breast milk without having to use formula (not that there is anything wrong with formula mind you.) So to get in a few extra calories Ava got her first taste of rice cereal. To say she hated it would be a understatement! Poor girl pouted and gagged and cried all the way through her first solid feeding.

Food goes in...

Food comes out!

Food goes in...

We finally gave her a spoon of her own and she much preferred the empty one!

Yesterday I tried again and she ate like a champ! No crying or pouting. Yay! We will wait until closer to 6 months to do fruits and veggies.

After her rice cereal Ava went swimming.

And not to be out done by her Mom's riding
Ava decided to break in the chaps Grandpa Ray got her and go for a Rottie ride on Lola.

Check out that equitation! All those daily trips to the barn seem to be paying off.

I love Ava's dress for the wedding-- she is so beautiful!

Thanks for the message about tummy time. I'm going to try what you said about the blanket underneath her. I'll keep you posted.

And don't worry about slacking off in the blogging world... I'm the queen of that! And I also cheat and backdate posts--- oh well!
